Deep Fried Cheese Corn Nugget

A couple of weeks back I was in a restaurant at Kolkata with all my family members for dinner on a special occasion and I was confused while going through the menu list for ordering for starter. I asked the boy who was waiting to take the order to suggest me the best starter items. In one go he suggested me to order for the item “Cheese Corn Nugget”. We had never had this starter before. When the starter was served we really enjoyed the taste of it as you will find something very special in this deep fried crunchy starter recipe.

I came back home and immediately on next day I was on search of the this recipe in google. Now, after making lot of experiments and permutation & combinations on ingredients I finally made the recipe details which I love and decided to share the same recipe details with you all.  

FRIED CHEESE CORN NUGGET

Servings: 6 or 7
Ingredients:

For Cheese Balls
Sweet Corn - 250 gms, boiled
Processed Cheese – 200 gms, grated
Potato –  2 medium, boiled and mashed
Bell Pepper (capsicum) – 150 gms, finely chopped
Salt – as per taste
Sugar – 1 tbsp
Pepper powder (white) – 1 tbsp
Corn Starch – 1 tbsp
Refined flour – 1 tbsp
Oregano – ½ tbsp, to be crushed by your palm
Oil – for deep frying

For Batter
Refined flour – 5 tbsp
Corn Starch or Corn flour – 1 and half tbsp
Baking powder – 1/4th tbsp.
Water – as required to make a thick batter
Salt – ¼ th tbsp. or as per taste

For Coating
Bread Crumbs – 1 and half cup 

Preparation:

In a bowl, add grated cheese, mashed potato, finely chopped bell pepper, boiled sweet corn, salt, white pepper, oregano, corn starch, refined flour, sugar. Mix them thoroughly with your hand.

Divide the mixture into small equal portion and give them a shape as you want (round/flat etc)

Now to make the batter, take a separate bowl. Add refined flour, corn starch, baking powder, salt. Mix them well before adding water. Then add that much quantity of water so that you can make thick batter.

Now, dip the corn cheese balls into the batter and place them on the bread crumbs. Cover the cheese corn balls with bread crumbs and press slightly on it so that extra moisture will be soaked. Make all cheese balls ready following the same process.

Heat oil and place the cheese corn balls one by one gently. Once all the cheese balls are placed in the oil, reduce the flame and deep fry them till they becomes golden brown.

Your crispy, crunchy “Deep Fried Cheese Corn Nugget” is ready for serving. Serve it with sauce or chutney.
