Imli (Tamarind) Sweet and Sour Chutney


IMLI (TAMARIND) SWEET AND SOUR CHUTNEY

Ingredients:

Imli (tamarind) - 1 cup, seedless
Water - 2 cups
Molasses (gur)- 1 and quarter cups
Cinnamon - 1” stick, crushed
Black Salt – ½ tbsp.
Red Chilli powder – 1 tbsp
Roasted Cumin powder – 1 tbsp
Dry Ginger powder – one and half tbsp.
Raisin (kismis) – 2 tbsp, cut into very small pieces

Preparation:

Soak tamarind (imli) in water for an hour. Boil it and strain the Imli Juice with the help of a strainer.

Dry roast the cumin seeds and it becomes cool, put the roasted seeds in a blender and blend them to make the powder.

In other bowl mix molasses, crushed cinnamon, Imli Juice and boil it for 15 minutes.
After 15 minutes mix black salt, red chilli powder, roasted cumin powder, dry ginger powder.

Cook the mixture to boil.


Add raisin and boil for 2/3 minutes. Make it cool to serve.
